45 years of the Faculty of Economics
Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) marked 45 years of successful work and development on 6th February 2020.
On that occasion, 110 graduates of the first cycle studies and 13 Masters of Science and Magisters were promoted.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, in his address reminded that in the past four and a half decades the Faculty of Economics has grown into the largest and most eminent educational and scientific institution in the field of economic sciences in the Republic of Srpska.
"During this time, the Faculty has spawned more than six thousand graduated economists, several hundred Magisters and 85 Doctors of Science, who have given a strong mark to the economic development of the Republic of Srpska since its inception, and through performing numerous functions and duties in the Republic's bodies and institutions have played a significant role in the social and political life of our Republic, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole", said Rector Gajanin at a ceremony marking the 45th anniversary of this institution of higher education.
The Rector expressed the hope that the Faculty of Economics will continue the same upward development path in the coming years as all these years, and that it will continue to contribute to the development of the Republic of Srpska through education of quality personnel in the field of economic sciences.
He especially congratulated the graduates who were also awarded their diplomas today.
"I am convinced that among the magisters, masters and graduated economists who are being promoted today are future holders of significant functions and directors of companies," Gajanin said.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, emphasizes that the Faculty of Economics of the UNIBL is extremely important for the educational system and development of the Republic of Srpska.
“Everyone who graduated from this Faculty made a great contribution to the development of the Republic of Srpska. I expect that this important institution will continue to educate quality personnel, and the Government of Srpska by investing in knowledge is investing in the future of the society", Višković said, emphasizing that young people studying at public universities will have the maximum support of the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
Prime Minister Višković emphasized that the new Law on Higher Education will improve the quality of study in the Republic of Srpska.
Prime Minister Višković reminded that this Law also stipulates that from this year all full-time students of public higher education institutions in the Republic of Srpska who pass year after year without repetition will have free education, whether they are in the first or second cycle studies.
"This is a great help from the Government of the Republic of Srpska and in this way we want the conditions of study at our two public universities to be of the highest quality and to improve our education system," concluded Višković.
Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska, Srđan Rajčević, emphasized that the Faculty of Economics of the UNIBL is a prestigious higher education institution.
"It is certain that progress in the education system will be visible after the adoption of the new Law on Higher Education and the Law on Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Congratulations to this significant institution for 45 years of successful work," Rajčević said.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Stanko Stanić, PhD, says that this Faculty is one of the leading ones at the University.
"It is certain that in 45 years of work we have shown the responsibility of professors and assistants to the community in which we function. We have contributed to the development of the community and economy, as well as life in the Republic of Srpska. In the coming period, with our colleagues from East Sarajevo we will offer the Government of Srpska to work together on the development strategy of the Republic of Srpska," said Stanić.
Dean Stanić emphasized that 1,130 students attend the Faculty of Economics today, in all three cycles of study.

NBS invitation for student participation in the final competition of the educational game "Monetura"
The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has invited students from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka to participate in the prize competition in the educational game "Monetura", which has been organized for the fifth consecutive year.
As in previous years, the final competition will be held at the National Bank of Serbia facility in Belgrade (Nemanjina 17, Slavija), and will be preceded by a qualifying tournament at the faculties with the participation of 9 or 12 students, three of whom who win will participate in the final competition in Belgrade.
The finale is scheduled for the end of March 2020, while the qualifying tournament for students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka will be organized in the first half of March at the premises of our Faculty.
The right to participate have:
- students of 3rd and 4th years of study, i.e. final years of study;
- students whose average grade is at least 8.00;
- students whose senior student status does not exceed one year from the date of enrollment in the senior student status.
"Monetura" is a board game that represents the functioning of the National Bank of Serbia under conditions of maintaining controlled inflation through the creation and implementation of monetary policy in relation to specific situations and impacts. The player is placed in the role of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia who is confronted with real-life situations in which the monetary system of Serbia can be found and thus, by using appropriate measures applied by the National Bank, influences the given situation. By applying appropriate measures, the player wins or decreases the number of points and keeps inflation within the limits of the desired value. Points scored in the game represent a key feature of success: inflation rate, dinar value, and citizen confidence. In addition, three requirements (price stability, financial stability, and independence of the National Bank) that allow membership in the European Union's monetary system must be fulfilled. The winner of the game is the player who is the first to complete all the tasks listed and in the inner circle of the board comes to an end – the average inflation of the European Union.
You can see the detailed rules of the "Monetura" game at the link.
