June 23, 2026

Assistant professor Ljubiša Mićić participated in an Erasmus+ academic staff mobility at the School of Business and Economics of Freie Universität Berlin from 9–13 June 2026, one of the leading universities in Germany and Europe.

During his stay in Berlin, Dr. Mićić delivered guest lectures to undergraduate and graduate students on topics related to economics, business informatics, and the digital economy. The lectures focused on the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with particular emphasis on digital transformation, as well as on the European integration process of the Western Balkans from the perspective of the digital economy.

In addition to teaching activities, Dr. Mićić engaged in a number of academic discussions and exchanges with faculty members and researchers from Freie Universität Berlin. Particular attention was given to digital transformation in higher education, the development of digital competencies, the application of artificial intelligence in teaching, and opportunities for strengthening cooperation among European universities.

As part of the mobility, Dr. Mićić met with Prof. Theocharis Grigoriadis, whom he thanked for his hospitality and support in organizing the exchange. The visit represents another important step in strengthening cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and one of Germany’s most prestigious higher education institutions.

A particularly inspiring part of the visit was exploring the scientific heritage of Berlin’s Dahlem campus. During the visit, Dr. Mićić had the opportunity to see historic buildings of the former Kaiser Wilhelm Society institutes, which played a crucial role in the development of modern science. These included the former Institute for Chemistry, where Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann conducted the experiments that led to the discovery of nuclear fission, as well as the Institute for Physics, whose first director was Albert Einstein.

The knowledge, experience, and professional contacts gained during the mobility will contribute to the further development of teaching and research activities at the Faculty of Economics, particularly in the areas of business informatics, digital transformation, innovation, and international cooperation.

This mobility represents a continuation of the Faculty’s active international engagement and contributes to strengthening its visibility within the European Higher Education Area.
