My name is Tijana Srdić and I am a third-year student at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka. During the summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026. I had the opportunity to participate in the CEEPUS program and spend one semester at Hochschule Burgenland in Eisenstadt, Austria. For me, this experience represented much more than just studying in another country - it was a new life experience that taught me to be more independent, open and ready to step out of my comfort zone.
Studying in Austria allowed me to get to know a different way of working and organization of teaching. Hochschule Burgenland is a university with a smaller number of students. This is precisely why you can really feel the warm atmosphere and commitment to every student, both domestic and international. I especially liked that the teaching was focused on practical examples, discussion and active participation of students. Workshops were also organized where we had the opportunity to meet other students, as well as different customs, cultures and beliefs from the countries they come from.
In addition to studies, I will especially remember everyday life in Austria. Independently organizing my obligations, traveling between Eisenstadt and Vienna, getting to know new places and people made me feel much more confident and independent in a few months. I had the opportunity to improve my knowledge of the English language, but also to learn German and use it in everyday situations.
When I look at the whole experience, what means the most to me is that I got out of a familiar environment and got the opportunity to get to know a different study system, culture and way of life. The exchange brought me new knowledge, friendships and memories that I will remember for a long time, but also greater confidence in myself and my abilities. That is why I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of this program and I would gladly repeat this experience and recommend it to everyone.
