Conference on the geo-economic policy of energy supply of the Balkan countries
Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka, Association of Economists of Belgrade and Regional Chamber of Commerce in Banja Luka, are organizing a scientific-professional conference on the topic "Geo-economic policy of energy supply of the Balkan countries in modern conditions of globalization and integration, with special emphasis on Serbia and the Republic of Srpska" at the Faculty of Economics on Friday, 19 April 2019, starting at 11.00 am.
Enabling production and consumption of electrical energy is essential for economic, technological and geopolitical position and development. This is a big challenge for geo-economic policy of each country, especially small and energy-dependent countries, which are exposed to constant pressure from the major powers and burdened with conflicts and misunderstandings, as is the case with the Western Balkans countries.
Serbia and the Republic of Srpska are in a special and delicate situation when it comes to the energy supply. They are exposed to constant turbulences of globalization and regionalization taking place between the European Union, which has scarce energy resources, and the Eurasian Union, which is rich in energy resources.
It was the actuality and significance of the mentioned issues that encouraged the organizers to gather relevant lecturers from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, and through their presentations and discussions during the mentioned event offered answers to some of the burning issues related to the existing and desirable geo-economic policy of production and supply of energy resources, energy security, energy transformation and changes in the consumption structure, necessity of developing a strategic partnership between the countries of the Western Balkans in the field of energy supply and other similar topics.
