The EBRD is pleased to invite you to the launch of the EBRD Transition Report 2017-18, the EBRD’s annual update on reform progress and economic developments across 37 countries from Central Europe to Central Asia and the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. The report outlines some of the key developments over the past year and it discusses the transition challenges ahead – for Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the wider region.
The Transition Report 2017-18 – Sustaining Growth – focuses on the challenge of sustaining growth, with particular reference to the experiences of middle-income economies. The analysis in this year’s report builds on various existing country-level, industry-level and firm-level datasets, as well as unique data on upgrades to road infrastructure and the performance of EBRD-supported infrastructure and energy projects. This report also provides an overview of progress in the area of structural reform and introduces a new assessment of the progress made by the countries of the EBRD region in their transition to sustainable market economies. A full copy of the report is available online: http://2017.tr-ebrd.com/.
Today’s presentation by Peter Sanfey (Deputy Director, Country Economics and Policy) will focus on the challenges ahead for Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Western Balkan countries, drawing both on the Transition Report 2017-18 and on the EBRD’s recent publication: The Western Balkans in transition: diagnosing the constraints on the path to a sustainable market economy, available here: http://www.ebrd.com/news/2018/towards-higher-productivity-in-the-western-balkans.html. Ian Brown (Head of Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina) will also give an overview of EBRD activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
